Instructor Biography:
Master Ted Beltavski
6th Degree Black Belt

1.) When did you begin and how long have you been training in the Martial Arts?

I began training with Grand Master Moo H. Kim at Kim's East Side, Lyndhurst School on September 19, 1990.

2.) Why did you begin training in the Martial Arts?

I always had an interest in the Martial Arts but did not act on the curiosity until Tina and I were married. We decided to begin training together to help increase her stamina for her singing career.

3.) What does Martial Arts mean to you?

Martial Arts to me means peace and confidence. I love the family atmosphere at T&T and I want others to share in this joy.

4.) Under what Master(s) have you achieved your current Rank(s)?

All of my training has been under Grand Master Moo H. Kim.

5.) What specific Martial Arts have you trained in, and for how long?

I have trained in Tae Kwon Do and Judo under Master Kim. I must admit I've spent over fifteen years learning the arts of grappling and submission. This goes hand in hand with our Judo training.

6.) What is your favorite Martial Art to train in and why?

I love all our training. The linear striking of TKD as well as the pulling/balance of Judo. I feel we need both to be a complete Martial Artist.

7.) What aspect of Martial Arts do you believe you excel in the most comfortably?

I believe the strongest portion of my Martial Arts skillset is Self Defense. I love submission and the engineering mechanics behind it. Breaking and sparring are also wonderful and tremendous fun... but I love to throw, grapple, and submit.

8.) When did you begin and how long have you been instructing?

I began instructing in 1992, in the Friday evening class at Kim's East Side, Lyndhurst School. Since then I've taught multiple times per week at various locations all over the northeast Ohio area. I calculated once that I have taught in excess of two thousand classes in the last ten years alone.

9.) Why did you begin instructing, and why do you continue?

I began instructing at Master Kim's request, as he needed help on Fridays. As I became more involved in the school however, I realized how necessary it was for the advanced students to continue Master Kim's philosophy and to propagate Art of Traditional Tae Kwon Do.

10.) What is your favorite Tae Kwon Do Technique and why?

My favorite technique is a reverse punch resulting in trembling shock to the opponent... a definite point in any tournament!
